ISHC Awards Requirements
ALL-SIBERIAN TEAM RACE AWARD

An award (medal) will be presented to the top three All-Siberian teams in each of the following Sprint classes on snow: 3-Dog, 4-Dog, 6-Dog, 8-Dog,10-Dog, and Unlimited. These classes are as defined by the International Sled Dog Association (ISDRA). An award (medal) will also be given to the top three All-Siberian teams in the Mid-Distance Class (30 miles per heat or more) and Long Distance class (100 miles or longer). An award (medal) will be presented to the top three placers in Gig/Wheeled Rig classes. These classes are 4-dog, 6-dog, and 8-dog as defined by ISDRA.

All-Siberian Team Racing awards are Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class to the Driver of the team. A certificate will be presented for fourth, fifth and sixth places. The award year is based on the drivers previous season's race results. Example: The 1997 awards are based on races that may start say in October 1996 and go through April 1997. The application for the 1999 ISHC All-Siberian Team race award would be due Feb. 15, 2000 and published in the April, 2000 ISHC magazine

Rules of Eligibility:
  1. Only Siberian Huskies registered with the AKC or its National equivalent will be eligible.

  2. Classes do not have to be sanctioned by ISDRA (International Sled Dog Racing Association) but if a sanctioned class is offered and run on the same trail for equivalent team size, the time factors will be taken from the sanctioned class. Example: If a Siberian Husky Class is offered and is run on the same trail as the sanctioned class of the same size, the race would count toward this award, and points would be computed as follows:
    1. Add the number of teams in the sanctioned class and the Siberian class together.
    2. Add the purse for the sanctioned class and the Siberian class together.
    3. Figure your placing, based on your total elapsed time, within the combined class.
    4. Mileage for the Siberian class must be the same as for the sanctioned class.
    5. Use the formula below to determine your points.

  3. The minimum mileage for each class as set by ISDRA must be met for each class except as follows: If trail mileage falls short at a race but would still meet the ISDRA minimum requirements if rounded up to the closest full mile, the race can be counted. This is a change from the previous program. The reason for this is that race trails are seldom perfectly measured. Some are longer than stated, others are shorter. Additionally, ISDRA does grant exceptions to race giving organizations to allow for shorter trails. Example: A race publishes it's 6-dog class at 5.5 miles distance per day. If rounded up, the race would meet the six mile per day minimum for a six dog class.

The team must finish within 125% of the average time of the top three teams for the points to count.
Example: 1st place team total time of 41:25
2nd place team total time of 42:30
3rd place team total time of 42:50
    Average time 42:15
For points to count, you must finish within 125% of 42:15 (this would be 52:49). Any team that had a slower time than 52:49 would not be able to count any points REGARDLESS of his placing.

  4. Only the top 4 races for each team will be counted. (The 4 races that give you the most points.) You don't have to have four races to apply. You may apply even if you only have one race.

  5. The Formula for Total Points per race is as follows:
Purse = Total to be paid for that class. Include Day Money, if any. Be sure to count only the purse for the Class you ran in (plus Siberian purse, if combining) and NOT total purse for the race.
Entrants = Total teams running the first day.
Total Mileage = Sum of miles run (round up if needed to meet minimum ISDRA race minimum for that class). (Example: 2 heats, 10 miles each heat, Total Mileage of 20)
    Placing = Your finishing position.

  6. Formula for % of Total Points for placing at any particular race is:
    ( # of teams finished - placing + 1)/# of teams finished = % of Total Points
Round off to the 3rd decimal place. (If the 4th decimal place is 5 or higher, then add 1 to the 3rd decimal number. If it is 4 or less, then the 3rd decimal stays the same.) Example: 23 teams finished. You placed 10th (23 - 10 + 1)/23 /23= .60869. The 4th decimal place is 6, so add 1 more to 8 to get the answer = .609. This is what you use to find the % of the Total Points for the race where you placed 10th. If the total points were 45, your points would be 45 x .609 = 27.405.

  7. An application MUST be filled out and sent to the Chairman of the Awards Committee by February 15. Each application may be inspected by the officers of the Club upon request. These officers reserve the right to verify all wins. APPLICATIONS & CONVERSION CHARTS are available from the Awards Chairman.
